The Powerlift scrap grapple is a 5-tine hydraulic orange peel grapple for excavators; it grips, carries and loads scrap, metal waste and recycling material.
The model is chosen according to your excavator’s operating weight and the material you handle.
| Model | Volume | Weight | Excavator | Open diameter | Head | Closing / opening |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SG300 | 303 L | ~810 kg | 14–20 t | 2000 mm | ±90° rotating | 2.4 / 1.6 s |
| SG450 | 455 L | ~940 kg | 16–22 t | 1990 mm | Fixed hanger | 3.3 / 2.2 s |
| SG600 | 600 L | ~1320 kg | 20–28 t | 2190 mm | Fixed hanger | 3.7 / 2.5 s |
Working pressure 250 bar. Times are calculated with an oil flow of 100 L/min for SG300 and SG600 and 80 L/min for SG450. Values are design values and are confirmed for your excavator when ordering.
A scrap grapple, also known as an orange peel grapple or orange peel grab, is a hydraulic attachment fitted to the end of an excavator arm in place of the bucket. Its five tines close with independent cylinders and wrap around the material from every side.
This lets it pick up irregular, tangled and sharp-edged scrap that a bucket cannot handle well, and carry and place it in a single move. Because the tines are connected in parallel, each one adapts to the material on its own even when the load is uneven.
Scrap grapples are used in scrap yards and recycling plants to stack, sort and load material. Loading and unloading trucks, containers and rail wagons, and handling metal waste and demolition debris are the most common applications.
Mechanical connection: The grapple is pinned to the excavator’s bucket linkage. The head is made to match your excavator’s pin diameter and pin spacing, so we ask for the make, model and weight class of your machine with the order.
Hydraulic connection: The tines are opened and closed by the excavator’s auxiliary hydraulic line. The models are designed for 250 bar working pressure and 80–100 l/min oil flow; the values are confirmed for your excavator with the order. The SG300’s ±90° rotating head lets you turn the load without repositioning the machine.

The deciding factors are the excavator’s weight class and the material: the 303-litre SG300 for 14–20 t, the 455-litre SG450 for 16–22 t and the 600-litre SG600 for 20–28 t excavators. Where you need to rotate the load, the SG300 with its rotating head stands out; the SG450 and SG600 have a fixed hanger.
It fits excavators in the 14–28 t class. The connection is made to match your machine’s pin diameter and pin spacing.
Yes. Orange peel grapple, orange peel grab and scrap grapple are names for the same product.
The Powerlift scrap grapple has 5 tines, each with its own hydraulic cylinder.
The SG300 comes with a bearing-mounted, braked head that rotates ±90°. The SG450 and SG600 have a fixed hanger.
